Cycle the City

Cycle the City, led by Prashanta Khanal and Sumitra Bogati, was a workshop based on Prashanta’s research that looks into the history of Cycling in Kathmandu valley. Participants, from across Nepal, including those from Pokhara, Dharan, Kathmandu and Lalitpur, shared their own experiences with cycling in their cities along with concerns about unsafe traffic, and the lack of safe infrastructures for cycling. Participants explored cycling in their vicinity during the workshop.  Kriti from Pokhara shared an interview of her mom buying her first cycle by herself. Her mom cheerfully shared how the cycle had added power, pleasure and pride to her life.

The workshop took place between 8-20 September, 2021 over four sessions followed by a few shorter seminars at schools.
